Upper Floor Takes Shape

Partially built walls
The walls were built up to a height of 7 feet after which small concrete beams (Lintels) were constructed over the openings of the doors and windows. Also slabs were poured to form the bathroom ceilings. All bathrooms have a section open to the sky where the showers will be. Now we are ready for the roof. This is looking West towards the ocean.

Dorm Room
What you see is the concrete Lintel that forms the windows with stones on either side to make it level for the roof. This is the NE corner of the upper floor.
One of the bedrooms with an attached bath
You can see the entrance to the bathroom, which has the opening on the right to the sky. The opening on the left is for the common bath that will be shared by the Dorms.
This is the Southern section of the upper floor.
The tank will be shifted to a structure that will be built on top of the slab that can be seen near it. The Solar Hot Water System will be relocated to the top of the slab on the left. The tank is currently situated in the mid-section which will be an open terrace. what you see leaning against the walls are concrete door frames. No wood has been used to construct the house.
Entrance to a bedroom with an attached bath
On extreme left is the entrance to the bedroom, to its right is the door to the bathroom. To the right of the picture you can see the opening to the sky.

The Mid-Section
Here you can see the mid-section that will be an open terrace. The entrance to this floor can be seen to the left-middle of the above picture. This is looking East away from the ocean. There are four bedrooms with attached baths. Two on either side of the open mid-section. Each bedroom will have a four sided slant roof (like a pyramid). There will be three rooms that will share a bath and a store room for supplies. The idea is to give them a cottage look and configure the Upper Floor as a Village.

Rajan,
Looks good. Hope you can finish the house before the next monsoon. You can then start advertising in the lonely planet...or even better invite them to come visit.
Looking good,
Pradeep
